What is Syn-Ake?
If the word Syn-Ake looks vaguely like Snake and scares you away, you are both right and wrong.
Right, because it is a man-made compound that mimics a natural compound found in the venom of the Temple Viper snake, a venomous snake found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its potent anti-wrinkle properties in its venom, which inspired the development of Syn-Ake.
Wrong, because you should not be scared off. Syn-Ake offers amazing skincare benefits. Being a product inspired by a snake, we can use very emotive words - Syn-Ake will kill your wrinkles, crow’s feet, and fine lines.
How is Syn-Ake produced?
Because this is a man-made synthetic compound, the science behind it does get a bit complex.
Syn-Ake is developed by the Swedish company, Pentapharm Ltd. Syn- Ake is produced through a synthetic peptide technology known as recombinant DNA technology. This involves creating a new sequence of amino acids that mimics the active peptide compound found in the Temple Viper's venom, known as Waglerin-1. To make this even scarier, the official name of the Temple Viper is Tropidolaemus wagleri.
The resulting synthetic tripeptide, Syn-Ake, is then purified and standardized for use in skin care products. This process allows for the creation of a controlled supply of Syn-Ake, ensuring that skin care products containing this ingredient have a consistent level of efficacy. The final product is a glycerine-based aqueous solution that is preservative-free and vegan-friendly.
How does Syn-Ake work?
Fine lines, wrinkles, frown lines, and smile lines are created over time by muscles that continuously perform the same motion, stretching the skin so that it cannot return to its original state.
Snake venom paralyzes the muscles of its prey, making it unable to move. Syn-Ake works similarly on a low level by penetrating the skin. It effectively freezes or paralyzes these tiny muscles, reducing and vanishing the lines. It is fast-acting and long-lasting and you will see a difference within weeks.
The results of using Syn-Ake are not permanent and will wear off after a month or so if you stop using the skincare product.
