The Holiday Beauty Bag

This week, the rarest of all occurrences happened- I stepped out of our bustling London Office, jumped on a train, and went on a mid-week jaunt to York in the idyllic English countryside. Cue cream teas, visits to ancient churches and strolls around endless gardens (read: we ate and drank… for 3 days). In the spirit of last week’s post (check it HERE if you haven’t already), I decided to pack rather light on the makeup front (ie. Had to forcibly restrain myself), and as a result, am really rather happy with the result- for once, a decently edited and light makeup bag!
So, here I have for you my low-key holiday beauty edit- 5 products; two complexion perfectors, two eye products and a new lip love. Enjoy!

The Face If you caught my post last week, you’ll know that I’ve been very taken with my latest complexion acquisition- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. It’s good coverage but skin-like in texture, and the shade Vanilla is spot-on for me. Redness and blemishes were buffed away, and my base was complete in under two minutes. I skipped blush in favour of letting my natural ruddiness shine through, and with a light dusting of Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot, shine was kept under wraps. One Heck of A Blot is totally undetectable on the skin- it dulls shine without losing any glow. Base, done.

The Eyes I kept it super simple and fuss-free with a couple of coats of my beloved CK One Mascara- they give me fluttery lashes on the quick. Brows were tamed with a quick application of Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium- a teeny tiny bottle full of fibrous ashy coloured gel; a true all-in-one for the brows. Gimme Brow bulks ‘em up and keeps them in place all day whilst still looking totally natural.

The Lips Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Peach Club makes my heart flutter... the formula is colour-packed and intense, long wearing, smooth to apply… but best of all- it’s not drying! This is the only truly matte lip product I’ve ever used that, post-application, doesn’t leave me scrabbling around for the lip balm. Peach Club is a perfect dark peach (peachy red?) that brightens the face and pulls the whole look together. Perfect for lazy girls like me ;) So there we have it- minimal base and eyes, shine kept in check with punchy colour on the lips- a super quick and easy look. The perfect spring holiday makeup- if I do say so myself. We’re getting better at this minimal makeup thing!
